A burner phone number for Marketplace and Craigslist

You listed a sofa and now a stranger has your actual phone number. Forever. Along with everyone who screenshotted the ad.

What a call sounds like

Hi, you've reached me about the listing — which item?

The grey sofa. Still available?

It is, and it's available for pickup this week.

Could I come Saturday morning?

I'll pass that on and text you to confirm.

The sofa sells, the number goes quiet, and your real number never appeared anywhere.

Setting it up

Put the second number in the listing instead of yours. Greeting: 'Hi, you've reached me about the listing — which item?'

Everything above is configured in the app under Settings › Your Agent. Your assistant uses what you tell it on every call — so the more it knows about selling on marketplace or craigslist work, the fewer calls come back to you.

Why not just give out your own number?

Because you can't take it back. A second line is a number you can hand out freely, hang up on, and release if it ever attracts the wrong attention — while your personal number stays with the people who already have it.
