A second phone number for dating apps

You're ready to swap numbers but not ready to give a stranger a permanent line to you and everyone in your contacts.

What a call sounds like

Hi, you've reached Jordan. Who's calling?

It's Alex, from the app.

Hi Alex — Jordan can't pick up right now. Want me to pass a message on?

Just say I called about Friday.

Will do.

A number you can walk away from.

Setting it up

Give out the second number. If it goes wrong, block them — or release the number entirely and get a new one.

Everything above is configured in the app under Settings › Your Agent. Your assistant uses what you tell it on every call — so the more it knows about dating work, the fewer calls come back to you.

Why not just give out your own number?

Because you can't take it back. A second line is a number you can hand out freely, hang up on, and release if it ever attracts the wrong attention — while your personal number stays with the people who already have it.
